SFNYC Takes Religion Seriously

Soulforce NYC desires reconciliation between anti-gay & anti-transgender religious traditions and the people who have been alienated from those traditions. Recognizing that religious rhetoric permeates the discussions surrounding acceptance of LGBT individuals as full members of both faith and civic communities, it becomes clear that this conversation is overdue. Change will come through productive dialogue, rather than angry debate.

We are creating positive change in New York City and we want you to join us.

Spiritual violence, the abuse of faith, against gay and transgender people affects us all. What begins as a sermon from the pulpit ends as a law on the books or hurtful thoughts put into tragic action. This conversation is necessary even when it is uncomfortable; when dialoge breaks down, bold action is required.

It all begins with you. SFNYC creates space for new ideas and leaders to form and emerge and we want you to be one of those new leaders! Visit our Get Involved page
