At last month's meeting we shared issues in our workplaces, schools, and communities of faith which affect LGBT people and brainstormed creative and non-violent solutions. This month, we will make plans to address these issues and move those around us toward reconciliation. Join us as we begin a multi-month drive to create safe spaces throughout the city.

SFNYC at Marble Collegiate Church

Participants from the 2007 Soulforce Q Equality Ride will join members of the GIFTS program at Marble Collegiate Church for dinner conversations and a presentation about the Equality Ride, the intersection of faith, identity, and advocacy, and the ongoing work that Soulforce and SFNYC is engaged in. All are welcome to attend.

If you feel silenced, marginalized, or oppressed in your religious, academic, work, or civil environment, please reach out to Soulforce NYC. We exist to counter anti-gay and anti-trans forces in the city fueled by religious misunderstanding and rhetoric and we want to help; by meeting with you, by preparing you to address the injustice, by getting your story out, by standing with you, or even just by listening.
All communication is sensitive and private.
Get Involved with Soulforce NYC
It can be as simple as sharing your story with us in print or on film or as brave as standing witness to anti-gay religious rhetoric in our city's places of worship. It's as easy as keeping our work in your thoughts and prayers, and can be as bold as planning our next action.
Mohandas Gandhi urges all to “be the change we wish to see ” and in ways seemingly small and large, there is a place for you to do just that with Soulforce NYC.
- Attend a monthly meeting - Monthly meetings are the throughline of Soulforce NYC. Here you learn what SFNYC is doing in the city, find ways to get plugged-in, prepare for upcoming actions and events, and educate yourself on issues affecting gay and transgender New Yorkers. Meetings are scheduled for the last Tuesday of each month in the LGBT Center. Come to our next event!
- Participate in a campaign - Everyone has something to contribute. Check out our current campaigns and find a way to get involved! If you have an idea for a campaign or see a problem that needs to be addressed, let us know.
- Share your story - If you are unable to be involved locally but still wish to support the mission of SFNYC, we are constantly looking to hear stories connected to New York, share them with us.
- Pray - As an interfaith organization, Soulforce NYC appreciates the prayers of all people for the work we are doing. If you are holding us in prayer or thought, encourage us by letting us know!
- Support SFNYC financially - Soulforce NYC is a local non-profit organization which relies on private donations. Gifts of all sizes are needed: $20 will cover the room cost for a monthly meeting. $500 will support an all-day training program. $2500 will fund a New York action. Learn more about donating to SFNYC.
