What skills or identities do you have that can be utilized when we do campaigns?

So often, we only look at more obvious traits, but I would like everyone to dig deep, think outside of the box, and come up with 5 things about themselves that can help make our actions even better.

For example, my 5 would be:

I am a womyn of Color (obvious but helpful)

I am an ally to the Transgender community

I can dialogue about the Bible & Queerness pretty well

My family has roots in the Black Southern Baptist Church

I was an Equality Rider, and thus grasp concepts of non-violent resistance

Your turn!

This a great exercise as we are thinking about moving forward in our organizing.

Here’s mine:

- I’m a trans man
- I grew up in the south
- My kindergarten through college education was all at Christian schools
- I’m a (radically different) Christian
- I’ve had a lot of training on non-violence (through Equality Ride and other actions), and I’m always eager to learn more!

I’m looking forward to reading and hearing about where people are coming from, and what they are bringing and carrying with them on this journey.

Here are mine:

- Like Micah, I grew up Christian and I’m a Christian today.  Though those two brands of Christianity look very different.  I see Christianity as radically inclusive, wondefully interdependent, and boldly pursuing justice.
- Recently, I’ve doing a lot of thinking about “choice” and how that intersects with LGBTQ identities.  No conclusions yet, but I like to think and talk about it.
- My parents and my sister were extremely unsupportive when I first came out and have made incredible progress since then.
- I live in New Jersey! with two gay Christians and a straight atheist!
- I am a trans ally without reservation.

Wow. It is nice to see that people are already answering this question. Here are mine:

- I grew up in Catalunya, Spain, in a supportive family.  I speak Catalan, Spanish and English. Currently learning ancient greek (koine).
- I am a scientist research scholar at NYU. Maybe that can be useful to make connections.
-  I grew up Christian and I’m Christian today. I never felt this to be really in conflict wih LGBTQ indentities. In fact, I first came out to my parish friends knowing that they will love and support me.
- I love theology.
- I’ve been a boy-scout leader (and leader’s organizer) for nine years. But scouting, in Spain, is not a conservative and anti-gay organization.

I was in Boy Scouts too!

I’m a gay Jewish Man
My father is a Holocaust survivor, which lends me a unique perspective on persecution.  I know from my family’s experience how prejudice and hate can shatter lives.
