Bible Bootcamp at Carnegie Mellon University

“The Bible says it’s a sin.” “You can’t be Christian and gay.” “It’s just wrong.” Recognizing that religious rhetoric informs the bulk of objections to LGBT acceptance, the Bible Bootcamp workshop is an introduction to understanding and responding to faith-based objections to queer acceptance. Drawing upon Hebrew and Christian scriptures and religious traditions, this workshop unpacks historic objections to LGBT inclusion in faith communities and gives participants the vocabulary and experience to speak boldly for LGBT inclusion in all aspects of life, including religious life.
